One of the great Chardonnays of Australia and when applying a longer term / historical view comfortably sits in the Top 3 along with Leeuwin Estate and Giaconda.
"Tapanappa was founded by Brian and Ann Croser in '02. Through Tapanappa, Brian is continuing a career-long mission of producing unique ‘wines of terroir’ – matching the climate, soil and geology to the right varieties from Tapanappa's 3 distinguished sites in SA. Wines are made from the Whalebone vineyard at Wrattonbully (planted to cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot in '74), the Tiers vineyard (planted to chardonnay in '79) situated in the Adelaide Hills' Piccadilly Valley, and the Foggy Hill vineyard on the southern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula (pinot noir). The winery and cellar door are located in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley." James Halliday
"Bright pale green-straw; as expected, an immaculately proportioned and balanced wine with great drive and impeccable line; all the vineyard and winemaker inputs are seamlessly welded, making flavour descriptors unnecessary." 96pts | James Halliday | Halliday Wine Companion
