2018 is the 3rd release of this relatively new super-premium release from GB. Be warned - this is a dry, uber-serious and BDX-like blend. Tight grained wood and plenty of tannin. Very young even at 7yrs of age. $105 at cellar door as it happens. The shiraz component is 100% sourced from the 100yr old Filsell vineyard.

"56/44 cabernet sauvignon/ shiraz blend from vines aged 20–120 yo. Matured 18 months in 18% new French oak hogsheads, then barrel selected. One of the most exciting modern additions to the extensive Grant Burge portfolio, a cracking rendition that epitomises the integrity and endurance of the great Australian blend in the Barossa. Impenetrable in depth and vibrant in hue, contrasting blackcurrant and blackberry fruit density and a crunch of vibrant energy. Super-fine, commanding tannins, great fruit drive and high-class French oak make for impressive potential." 96pts | James Halliday Wine Companion

"Very deep, bright red/purple colour, with a concentrated cassis, blackberry aroma, which hints at rather than shouts cabernet. The palate is deliciously fruit-sweet, the cassisy cabernet very evident, together with mouth-coating tannins. Earthy, mineral, graphite nuances. An emphatic finish and very long aftertaste. A statuesque wine with a big future. Cellaring recommended." 96pts | Huon Hooke | The Real Review
