Musar won't be on many people's 'best of' lists but it is undoubtedly one of the world's most important wineries. The most famous and well regarded Lebanese winery, established in 1930 and has managed to release wines every year despite the various instances of war and civil unr est over the years. Chateau Musar produces an earthy complex range of wines that age beautifully and Serge Hochar was awarded the first Decanter magazine "Man of the Year in 1984.

Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault from vineyards near the Bekaa Valley villages of Aana and Kefraya on gravelly soils over limestone. Planted from the 1930s onwards, yields are low from these mature bushvines (average age: 40 years).

"Dense red, still very young and thick ‘legs’ on the glass showing richness to come, the nose still quite closed with autumnal black stone fruits which show exuberance and spice on the palate with almost a sweet warmth of texture from a small, late and naturally concentrated harvest, not ready yet and needing to lose its ‘puppy fat’ and move into its second decade to show its vineyard character to the full" Steven Spurrier, September 2019
